The Low Maintenance Girl: Make Up Routine and Essentials August 2018

This is the final post of my first trilogy The Low Maintenance Girl. As you can probably tell from the contents of my make up bag much like my haircare and skincare routine, I like to keep it simple. I generally only wear makeup during the week as I like to let my skin breathe over the weekend. Or that's what I tell myself! The truth as much as I love wearing makeup, sometimes, I just don't feel like wearing it.

So I start by curling my eyelashes using my Rose Gold Eyelash curler from Primark. This makes such a difference making my eyelashes longer and my eyes appear brighter. I then apply the Kiss x Prime Of Your Life Primer (which at £4 from Wilkos is a bargain) under my eyes. This primer has a watery texture and doesn't feel silicone like which I hate the feeling of. This primer allows my concealer to apply smoothly and stay on all day.

I then apply my trusty Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in the colour Fair. Anyone who spends any time on the internet would have heard about this concealer so I won't talk about it too much. It is amazing though! Using my Real Techniques travel brush, I powder my face using the C.Y.O powder in fair all over my face  I only wear a powder as my skin is generally clear (humble brag) and I hate wearing liquid foundations as it makes me feel like my skin is being suffocated.

Next onto the eyes! I start by applying Essence I Love Colour Intensifying eyeshadow base. This base is a light pink-toned colour which I blend onto my eyelids providing the perfect surface for the eyeshadow to stick too. This also really does intensify the colour. I then use my Collection Eyes Undiscovered Palette in either Nude or Nude Bronze. I apply a darker colour across the lid before applying a lighter colour into the corner of my eyes and blend.

In both eyeshadow palettes they eyeshadows are creamy and blend effortlessly. You can see which colours I enjoy using the most in the Nude Bronze palette! I have been frequently complimented on my eyeshadow when I wear the colour Mink. I would describe the colour Mink as a warm-toned champagne colour and would buy the palette again just for that colour. The Nude palette can be a little chalky especially the lighter shades and don't blend as easily.  The colours are still pigmented. This and the fact I prefer warmer tones on my complexion is the reason I reach for the Bronze Nude palette more frequently.

Nude Bronze Palette. Eyeshadow Names from left to right, Ivory, Mink, Ochre, Golden Brown, Ember and Nutty.

Nude Palette. Eyeshadow Names from left to right White Chocolate, Buttercream, Biscuit, Chocolate Milk, Brown Sugar and Espresso.
I finish of my eyes with my Soap and Glory Thick and Fast Mascara. This mascara gives you well defined and long yet natural looking eyelashes. I do prefer using this mascara once it has dried out for a couple of days just as it is easier to work with. If I am feeling fancy, I will then finish off with the Benefit Benetint in Rose on my lips. This product is amazing. It is a bit wierd to apply as it is a nail varnish like brush but it staines your lips so lasts for ages!

All of my make up essentials are stored in this beautiful makeup bag which I got from Amazon for under £5 but reminds me of the Ted Baker Make Up Bags. I think the bow looks adorable.

What are your make up essentials?

Love,

E.x

Food Friday's LSE Garrick Cafe

Every Friday, I treat myself to lunch out. Not only do I get to explore different places to eat but also it's nice to get outside on my lunch break.  So, I wanted to do a weekly post about where I eat and what I eat.  Today I went to eat at LSE Garrick Café. I have gone here a few times as it is often quieter than other parts cafes in London. LSE Garrick cafe as you would suspect is popular with students but is open to the general public. They offer delicious salads, gluten free cakes, cakes, pastries and teas. The café has large windows which not only make the place light and airy but also makes the perfect spot for people watching! A guilty pleasure of mine. I had planned to walk around afterwards but sadly it was chucking it down with rain. Today I had a: Sweet Chilli Salmon Salad, Gluten Free Bakewell Cake Slice and a Peppermint tea.  Costs: £8:20 Where is your favourite place to eat and what do you have?  Love,  E.x

Advice to University Freshers Students

Congratulations to those who have received your A-Level result today. You made it! I hope you achieved what you wanted. If not you should still be proud of what you achieved as you worked incredibly hard. Though it sounds cheesy, it is true that everything happens for a reason, even if you can't see that reason now. I still remember my A-level results day. I didn't sleep at all the night before as I was so nervous! I got the grades to get into my first choice University, I was thrilled. Being the only one awake in my house, I ran upstairs to my Mum who was asleep in bed and woke her up to tell her! Then sat on her bed crying tears of happiness and relief. Before I get started on my advice for Freshers, I wanted to highlight that University is not the only option in life. Some people flourish better in a work environment than they do in an academic environment.  Research all your options and do what feels right for you. I know schools, a least from my experience and th...

The Low Maintenance Girl: Morning and Evening Skincare Routine

Welcome to part two of my first trilogy, The Low Maintenance Girl (yay!). Don't forget to check out part one for my low maintenance haircare routine . Here is my simple yet effective skincare routine for the low maintenance girl. I would describe my skin as a combination with the occasional hormonal breakout. All I want is clear skin!  In the morning I use No7 Beautiful Skin Foaming Cleanser and my No7 facial brush. The cleanser is liquid in the bottle and comes out as a foam which can only be explained by magic! I move the facial brush over my face in circular motions. Before washing off the cleanser with a flannel soaked in warm water. This leaves my skin feeling fresh, soft and removes any excess oils. I then finish with Nivea Daily Essentials Rich Moisturising Day cream which has a light fragrance, sinks in quickly (I can almost feel my skin drinking up the hydrating goodness) and has SPF 15 to protect my skin from the sun. In the evening ...
