Day Out: St Ives Cambridgeshire

Hope you all are having a lovely weekend. I am visiting my parents this weekend so decided to take the morning to explore my hometown of St Ives, Cambridgeshire. Not to be mistaken for St Ives in Cornwall. St Ives is a beautiful market town, with lots of history and sights to see which I am going to share with you now. This small town is just a short bus ride away from Cambridge. Here are pictures to give you a taste of this picturesque town.

Right in the centre of town is the Oliver Cromwell Memorial.

See if you can spot The Golden Lion.

No the town centre is complete with a few flower pots.

The Free Church inside there is a cute fairtrade shop and cafe which is a lovely place to have a cup of tea.

The classic St Ives Bridge. In the Centre, there is a small church. As you may notice the arches on either side of the bridge are different the round arches were pulled down but Oliver Cromwell to prevent the Royalists approaching St Ives. Today you can take a trip on a River Boat along the River Ouse.

The river used to be the main way to import goods. This is celebrated with the memorial below.

Over the bridge is a meadow which is a wonderful place to walk and have a picnic in the summer.

Near the bridge is this beautiful wedding shop called Shades of White. I like to take a wander down here to admire the beautiful dresses.

The Methodist Chruch. The second church in the town centre with stunning stain glass windows.

Across from the Parish church is The Waits. The patio often has live music which is a sensational way to spend a summer afternoon.

The Norris Museum is free. They have pre and post-medieval history as well as art galleries.

The Parish Church. In 1918 a student pilot crashed into the spire, the pilot sadly died and the spire had to be rebuilt.

Holt Island is a free nature reserve to explore with wooden walkways and benches to relax and hide.

To finish my lovely walk we went to the River Terrace Cafe. In nice weather, you can sit outside admiring the river and the weather. I had a delicious Mocha and a Millionaire Shortbread.

Taking the time to walk around and take pictures of my hometown has really made me appreciate how beautiful it is. I am really lucky to have grown up here.

Food Friday's LSE Garrick Cafe

Every Friday, I treat myself to lunch out. Not only do I get to explore different places to eat but also it's nice to get outside on my lunch break. So, I wanted to do a weekly post about where I eat and what I eat. Today I went to eat at LSE Garrick Café. I have gone here a few times as it is often quieter than other parts cafes in London. LSE Garrick cafe as you would suspect is popular with students but is open to the general public. They offer delicious salads, gluten free cakes, cakes, pastries and teas. The café has large windows which not only make the place light and airy but also makes the perfect spot for people watching! A guilty pleasure of mine. I had planned to walk around afterwards but sadly it was chucking it down with rain. Today I had a: Sweet Chilli Salmon Salad, Gluten Free Bakewell Cake Slice and a Peppermint tea. Advice to University Freshers Students

Congratulations to those who have received your A-Level result today. You made it! I hope you achieved what you wanted. If not you should still be proud of what you achieved as you worked incredibly hard. Though it sounds cheesy, it is true that everything happens for a reason, even if you can't see that reason now. I still remember my A-level results day. I didn't sleep at all the night before as I was so nervous! I got the grades to get into my first choice University, I was thrilled. Being the only one awake in my house, I ran upstairs to my Mum who was asleep in bed and woke her up to tell her! Then sat on her bed crying tears of happiness and relief. Before I get started on my advice for Freshers, I wanted to highlight that University is not the only option in life. The Low Maintenance Girl: Morning and Evening Skincare Routine

Welcome to part two of my first trilogy, The Low Maintenance Girl (yay!). Don't forget to check out part one for my low maintenance haircare routine . Here is my simple yet effective skincare routine for the low maintenance girl. I would describe my skin as a combination with the occasional hormonal breakout. All I want is clear skin! In the morning I use No7 Beautiful Skin Foaming Cleanser and my No7 facial brush. The cleanser is liquid in the bottle and comes out as a foam which can only be explained by magic! I move the facial brush over my face in circular motions. Before washing off the cleanser with a flannel soaked in warm water. This leaves my skin feeling fresh, soft and removes any excess oils. I then finish with Nivea Daily Essentials Rich Moisturising Day cream which has a light fragrance, sinks in quickly (I can almost feel my skin drinking up the hydrating goodness) and has SPF 15 to protect my skin from the sun.
